Would you be in favor of a Nationwide ID card program?

If the national id program were to replace state drivers licenses and social security cards than yes I would support it. I think it would make life easier for most everyone if a single ID was standard around the country. The drivers license could still be state regulated, it would just become an attachment to your ID card.

But just having a national ID card wouldn't really be that effective in fighting immigration. We already have social security cards which are supposed to be issued to all citizens and not available to illegals. The problem is there is no readily available system for the average person to validate social security information.

Oh most definitely.
Anything to aid in giving up our freedoms and allowing the Federal Government to have even more control over us must be good.
I actually think that perhaps if we get a nice little micro-chip at birth we would all be much safer and better off in the long run.
That way it could be scanned to pay us, for our shopping, health records, where we are at any given moment, we could use the chip instead of the ID card and really be safe from the harm that we can do ourselves with too much of that silly freedom.

All we need to do to solve the illegal problem is cut off all benefits, punish those who help and hire them severely, and enforce the laws currently in place.

A national ID card would NOT by any stretch eliminate illegal immigration. There are no facts to support it.

It would create more bureaucracy and cost tax payers more money. We already have SS #'s on the federal level, we have driver's lic's on the state level, why would we need this?

It would be counterfitted within 24HRS of its release anyway.

Yeah, I guess so. Especially if it would replace all the different state IDs and drivers licenses. It kind of seems stupid that people that need to look at IDs would need to be able to determine if 50 different types of IDs are legitimate when it could possible to only have to know one type of ID.

I don't really see any reason to think that a national ID would be more intrusive than state IDs.

I don't think an ID card is enough. People should also have to have travel papers authorizing them to travel from one part of the United States to another. As well, anyone without proper identification should be thrown into a camp. Police should be able to stop anyone at will and check for their ID.

You'd have to carry it everywhere even when you're taking a walk or riding a bike. And the fathead police could stop you anytime and ask for an ID. Do you really want that?

Where are we headed with this, Nazism. First and foremost people that hirer illegal immigrates knowingly are the ones to blame and should be striped of any licenses they hold and if they have a company it should be taken over by the state, homeowners that hirer them as maids or ground keepers, should be striped of their home & assets. They are the people to blame and our government for not making that very clear to them. I was born here I have papers to prove it, so why should my drivers license or state ID not be sufficient. Like always put the burden on the legal citizens and not attacking the people that are using the illegal immigrate, farmers should be given permission to go to another country and hirer temporary workers and pay the government to ID these workers and make these farmers pay them the same as they would have to pay a USA citizen, house them feed them and provide them with health & life insurance. But our government is sponsored by cooperation so that will never happen.

I also think that they have access to information on us anytime they want anyways.
My husband lived in a communist country and I have visited when it was communist.I don't want more government in my face then is already there.

We already have the REAL ID Act. If it gets through and enough states participate, it will be a de facto national ID card, because all the states' ID databases will be linked into one big database, and all licenses will meet federal requirements.

I believe NO person is illegal, and an illeal has the same right to the US as the next guy. God made the world for us to SHARE, not say who comes and who goes. And the families who get torn apart by the deportation, all the minute men saying the parents should have thought twice, it is not at fault of the children, who are being hurt the most.

Hmm, I'm not sure. Probably not. Either way, its not going to solve illegal immigration. The only way to do that is to ship all the illegals back to their countries and buckle down hard on border security. As I've said before, this is one issue in which I disagree with Bush. Unfortunately, its also a major issue that needs to be dealt with now.

p.s. I am not a fascist or a racist. I have cousins that are Mexican and a cousin that is married to a man of color so don't even go there...THEY ARE LEGAL!
