First station troops, then build the wall. You can't put the cart before the horse. Why? Because Mexico does not want this wall. Why? Because they want as few dark-skinned, uneducated, poor people in their country as possible. The wall will eliminate a safety valve that has prevented revolution. Why? Because these persecuted people have had a glimmer of hope in the form of a relatively porous U.S. border.
Therefore, we can't realistically start building until we downsize in Iraq. Why? Because we will need at least 20,000 troops along the Mexican border. Why? Because the Mexican Army or its assigns (i.e moonlighting drug gangs) will blow up the wall faster than we can put it up.
So you ask "Wouldn't 20,000 troops and their equipment be expensive?" Yes, but not as expensive as the $125 billion annually illegal immigrants cost the U.S. taxpayers every year.
RE: The Canadian border -- It is not necessary to build a wall. Electronic monitoring and relatively few troops will suffice for the piddly amount that try to cross the Canadian border. |

I think the best solution is a two-part action:
1. Demagnetize the US by fining HARSHLY everyone caught hiring illegals.
2. Set land mines and snipers as our border fence. People would volunteer all its costs and men and it would cost the taxpayer zero. |

The fastest way to get rid of all illegals is to totally stop all monetary entitlements. When they can't get welfare, food stamps, free medical care and free public education, they will have no reason to stay. They will be getting exactly what they got while in Mexico.... nothing. |

Yes on the Mexican border, no on the Canadian border. The Canadians are our brothers, while the Mexicans are our freeloading brothers-in-law! Seriously, I consider Mexico to be a hostile country.
We don't need to go to the expense of building a wall, we can widen and deepen the rio grande river in places to make it harder for the Mexicans to get into our country, and we can build a stout, double-layer fence with barbed wire on the top to stop the invaders. |

Of course , isn't that what Congress promised to do and had funding for it ?
But now they have perpetrated a hoax on the American People about the border fence funding

Uh just Mexico the Canadians come here and pay for healthcare that works so they are helping our economy... |

Yes. But I doubt that a wall is needed on the Canadian border. Dark skinned, dark haired people crossing in wide open wheat country would stand out like sore thumbs. |

A very large wall, with many armed sentries. Shoot on sight orders. That should send the message that border jumping will not be tolerated. |

Yes along Mexico! Canadian borders aren't a problem, their government takes care of it's own problems, not like Mexico. |

Sorry Canada, you will be having the same problem as us Yanks, so don't start screaming when this happens. You can pay for your own wall, too. ( for those insulting us Americans) |

I think something has to be done about the border, but will that stop the problem totally? |

We only need a wall on our southern border, and yes it should be manned with armed guards with orders to shoot to kill |

Hell yeah. |

Yes. I also want every shipping port stationed with troops too. |

I don't like the fence but the National Guard and Air National Guard duties should include patrols along all US borders the same as the Coast Guard for the declared US water borders.
A road running along the border from San Diego to El Paso, like the one that runs along southern Canada, with many more boats patrolling Rio Grand would be much more effective than a fence or even a wall. |

Absolutely. Park an M1 tank on the Mexican border while you're at it too. I'm tired of my taxes dollars paying to support a bunch of lazy illegals who don't want to get jobs and pop out 4 or 5 babies. |

it too late the enemy is already in our back yard in Texas and you Northern yankees best be prepared cause they are streaming your way with their hands extended. We need to load them up and send them home is the only solution no matter the cost. Bring the troops home from the middle east and Korea the real enemy is coming up our back side. |

i support building a wall and stationing troops as long as they don't shoot to kill.
edit: because i show value for a fellow human's life, i get thumbs down? |

While we're at it we might as well change the name of the country from the US to the USSR. |

Excellent idea, but can we really leave it to the Mexicans and Canadians to keep all the yanks behind the walls and stop them messing up the rest of the world? |
