i live in the US im also a irish citizen from my dad but his dad was born in england so can i obtain one or what other ways can i get a citizenship my mom is american and also irish from her parents

British citizenship by descent only passes down one generation. Unless either of your parents were British-born, you don't have it. Grandparents don't count. Ireland is unusual in allowing citizenship to pass down virtually any number of generations provided that the births are registered at the Irish Embassy. The only way you could become a British citizen is to live in the UK for 5 years and become naturalised.
But it makes no practical difference. If you are an Irish citizen, you are an EU citizen as well and under EU law can live, work and study anywhere in the EU without a visa or any restrictions. The only thing that a non-British EU citizen can't do in the UK is vote in Parliamentary elections... but even that doesn't apply to you as Irish citizens can vote in the UK. |

No, you can't claim British citizenship through a grandparent - only a handful of countries allow citizenship to descend twice Ireland is one of those.
You are only automatically an Irish citizen if your father was BORN on the island of Ireland, if your claim to Irish citizenship is through a grandparent then you are not automatically an Irish citizen. As the grandchild of an Irish citizen you must prove your claim & be registered in what is called the Foreign Births Register - your Irish citizenship will start on that day & you need to make sure you're on it before you have any children as in theory citizenship could be handed down indefinitely.
If your father is the Irish citizen by birth on the island it's less hassle then trying to claim through your grandparents - your claim is automatic & you need only apply for a passport as proof, you'll the application form, the fee, the long version of your dad's birth cert, your parents marriage cert & the long version of your birth cert.
