can anyone please help on this?
My father(adopted) is a german citizen and i am an indian(age 24) on uk tier1 visa(expires march 2011) Is there any chance to apply for a dependent visa through my father or sponsoring? I just want to stay here for long as I am working in uk and can't apply for any extension visa as i haven't got enough points
Please could anyone suggest on this issue

I would assume it depends whether you were formally adopted before you were 18 or not. If you were formally adopted by a German citizen before you were 18 I believe you also could acquire German citizenship and as a German citizen be legal to work in the UK.
If your adoption was completed before you were 18 becoming a German citizen would however be complicated that you currently live abroad. I guess if you could show that you have strong ties to Germany you might be able to, you also would need to pass a German test and whatever else they need for naturalization. You also would have to consider that neither India nor Germany usually allows dual citizenhip. So you couldn't be both.

Hi Hanks,
You are too old to be a dependent under either UK or EU law. Best thing is to return when required and make a reapplication when the points change. If you become an over-stayer you will have problems re-entering the UK. |
