Lou Dobbs reported that 33 percent of our prison population is now comprised of non-citizens. Plus, 36 to 42 percent of illegal aliens are on welfare. So, for a good proportion of these people, the American dream is crime and welfare, not coming here to work. Additional Details http://www.immigrationcounters.com/
page down just a tad to see the massive cost to americans.....

Anyone who violates immigration laws intends to commit crimes. If they violate immigration laws, they are criminals, so what makes anyone think they will obey all the rest of our laws?
Many come here expressly to commit crimes! Drug smuggling, human smuggling, other types of smuggling, robbery, gun running, fencing stolen goods, and a huge list of crimes often involve illicitly crossing and recrossing the border. More think nothing of committing an endless list of crimes to get what they want - MONEY.
According to the Rutgers Study, fewer than half of all illegal aliens work - work of any sort whatsoever. Over half are "dependents" - spouses & children, parents, etc, who never have any intention of working, or cannot work, or just plain will not work. Of those who "work" and earn some sort of money, less than half work a "regular" job with "regular" paycheck. Most of those who "work" do day labor, work under the table for cash, do odd jobs from time to time, etc. On average, according to the Rutgers Study, they work less than 3 days (24 hours) per week. Many of those who "work" do some other money-getting activity: e.g. landscapers, lawnmowers often case neighborbhoods for burglary rings, commit thefts & burglaries, etc.
Anyone who thinks illegal aliens do not collect welfare is totally blind or stupid. Why do you think they create "anchor babies" and "identity theft children" but to collect welfare, food stamps, medical care, etc, for themselves? That money is NOT PAID to the child, even those who are actually born here, but it all goes to the illegal alien parent! As many as half of supposed "US-born" children are in fact identity-theft children. The parents steal the identities and SSNs of children! Such thefts are often not discovered until after the real child turns 18.
Separate studies in California (not cited by Lou Dobbs) found as early as @1992-93 that over one-third of convicted felons in California prisons were in fact illegal aliens. There are other studies over the past 2 decades with similar findings. Illegal aliens, not just foreign citizens. If you add all foreign citizens (legal + illegal) at various times and in various states and federal penitentaries, the total runs over 40% of convicted felons. |

The last FBI report I got states that 29% of the prison population (state and federal) was illegal aliens! Add in the fact that a lot of local and county facilities have a much higher percentage (a lot of illegal aliens get deported instead of going to jail) and it is certainly believable!
Bill:
Both of those statistics are completely false. No where near a third of prisoners in America are non-citizens. And a "non-citizen" is not the same as an "illegal alien." (see above) The FBI lies?
There are no illegal aliens on welfare. Illegals are not entitled to welfare.
The FBI states that 58% of welfare payments go to illegal aliens! The FBI lies?
There are no illegal aliens in the US. Illegals are not entitled to be in the US!
DUH!
Where do you get this garbage? Oh yeah, la racist!
More misinformation from the pro-criminal groups!
1) CA has not until recently even asked about immigration status so the figures are bound to be skewed!
2) CA dept of corrections puts the "know" illegal alien population at 14%! But the dept of finance must know better?
3) CA sends inmates out of state. The vast majority of them illegal aliens! Most do not or will not admit to having family there so.. Less illegal alien inmates in CA prisons!
4) CA admits to deporting illegal aliens who would normally go to prison! Therefore they never reach the state prison system!
5) A large number of illegal aliens are in FEDERAL prison! This is where the highest percentage is! Smuggling, etc. is a FEDERAL crime!
I guess la racist just forgot to include these facts?
And $30 a pound for chicken and vegetables? LOL!!!! How can people believe such drivel?
According to Philip E. Martin, Professor of Immigration and farm labor at the University of California, Davis, consumers who pay $1 for a head of lettuce are giving 19 cents to the farmer and 6 cents to the farm worker. If we doubled the wages of farm workers, the cost of a head of lettuce would increase by 6 cents to $1.06. For labor costs to force lettuce to $5 per head, farmers would have to pay field workers $4.06 per head of lettuce. At that rate, it would be the kind of work "every American would want to do."
As for "the people coming here do not commit any other crimes" another FBI statistic is that over 99% of illegal aliens commit their FIRST FELONY within 30 days of their "immigation violation"! |

To you people who think illegals don't get welfare you need to watch CNN's documentary "Immigrant Nation, Divided Country". One family featured overstayed their visa, he works 2 jobs and does pay taxes (by obtaining a tax ID # but on an income of $20,000 I wonder how much he's getting refunded). His son got a high school education (funded by U.S. taxpayers), got a college scholarship (taken away from a U.S. citizen) and his wife who had ovarian cancer was on Medicaid - that's right, Medicaid. I certainly consider Medicaid to be a form of welfare. Another woman here illegally was trying to get her kids here too. She did make enough money (I'm sure it was under the table and tax free) to pay coyotes twice to try to smuggle those kids in. She also had a car but no driver's license which probably means no insurance, 2 more laws being broken. She did actually get taken to jail for a few days when she got caught without a license but she was just released, not deported as she should have been.
This is a long way of making my point which is, all illegals are law breakers, most are just not in prison for it. They break the law by entering (over staying) illegally, steal or purchase social security numbers and identities (that would land a US citizen in jail but for some reason it's overlooked when an illegal does it), drive without licenses, insurance, the list goes on and on. |

culture plain and simple. in arizona we are addressing this problem .those people who are not captured between now and july 29th have an open invitation to live in san francisco ,no questions asked. the mayor there has stated he will make every accommodation available to them. with his open invitation there is movement in the hispanic community. highways leading out of arizona and heading towards california have been heavily congested with pickups full of hispanic looking people trailering along their furniture. and that is good |

i guess you don't even realise how silly it sounds. americans= migrants arguing about migrants... you are just lucky that they are poorer. if it was alien invasion they would do to you what you have done to native indians... assuming that higly advanced civilization would resort to violence....
btw don't trust figures given by racists, they overestimate for their benefit... i agree with 'someone' that criminals should be deported and MAJORITY of migrants should have their EQUAL oportunity to wark and prosper... |

Lou Dobbs?
Never heard of your source, but I prefer reliable ones.
Uh, even if 33% fo the prison pop were illegal aliens, that still doesn't mean it's a large percent of illegals.
Not all non-citizens are illegals.
It's simply a lie that illegals are on welfare.
The vast majority of people who come here illegally do not commit any other crime (they're too scared of deportation); they DO work; they do NOT get welfare; they pay taxes.
Illegals contribute vastly more than the little they take, whatever your lying "sources" say.
We need to let people come here to work legally. Dunno about YOU, but I simply can't afford chicken at $30/lb, or fruits and veggies at similar prices. |

The ones "just working" are the ones most affected by the drug cartel violence. While both groups are illegal I don't think they can be tarred with the same brush. If ICE would get rid of the drug cartels most Americans would be willing to negotiate on the "workers". |

When they realize that no one (or only crappy, low-paying jobs) will hire them, it's only natural to turn to crime because it offers lots of money fast.
Plus, if you have no work, nowhere to go, no place to live, jail provides food, shelter, clothing, education and a ministry. |

Near the start of his Nov. 4, 2003, program on CNN, Lou Dobbs said, “One-third of the inmates now serving time in federal prisons come from some other country — one-third.” Later, he offered more details: “Coming up, we’re going to take a further look at the impact of illegal aliens. And it is an expensive proposition, particularly in our nation’s prisons. Illegal aliens, those citizens — noncitizens taking up a third of the cells in our federal penitentiaries.”
He also said that illegal immigrants were “an increasing part of America’s prison population.”
Here are the facts, according to the Department of Justice:
¶In 2000, 27 percent of the inmates in federal prisons were noncitizens. Some of these noncitizens were illegal immigrants, and some were in this country legally. In 2001, this percentage dropped to 24 percent, and it continued dropping over the next four years, falling to 20 percent in 2005.
Bottom line: illegal immigrants make up significantly less than a third of the federal prison population, and the share has been falling in recent years.
¶The share of state prison inmates who are noncitizens is much lower. (This is largely because immigration violations themselves are federal crimes.) In 2000, 4.6 percent of inmates in state prisons were noncitizens. This number remained quite steady over the next five years, right around 4.6 percent.
¶Over all — combining federal and state prisons — 6.4 percent of the nation’s prisoners were noncitizens in 2005. This is down from 6.8 percent in 2000.
¶By comparison, 6.9 percent of the total United States population were noncitizens in 2003, according to the Census Bureau.
Anne Morrison Piehl, an economist at Rutgers, says there are a number of reasons that immigrants have a lower crime rate than the native-born population. (To read a paper by Ms. Piehl and Kristin Butcher on immigrants and crime, click here.)
For one thing, the consequences of being arrested can be enormous for illegal immigrants, which is an obvious deterrent to crime. For another, immigrants, as a group, aren’t typical of the population. The fact that they have picked up and moved to another country suggests that they have more ambition, and perhaps even more skill, than the average person. This could help explain why the United States, a nation of immigrants, is such an economic powerhouse. |

Lou Dobbs is misinformed.
He's using a quote by Whitman, which was fact checked. The number is around 11%

And undocumented immigrants are ineligible for welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, and most other public benefits
