It kills me that some whites (many are cool though), say that Mexico should "fix" it's own problems, when many of the "problems" were created by unfair American policies, American business and unions. Why are hundreds of American companies allowed to go to Mexico to exploit the workers down there for pennies? And then sell that product here for hundreds of $$$$. And American corporations really want them here, so their directing their anger in the wrong direction. |

the doors are open.
there are proper channels to citizenship, unless you don't want the responsibilities of said citizenship.
there is a difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants. |

This was open to them. We are admiring of legal immigrants, although with a welfare state and the cost of education we do have to limit how many can come.
We don't dislike immigrants, we dislike thieves. |

A majority of the European immigrants came to America to start a new life as American citizens. Many wanted to assimilate into their new society and become protective members.
Many of today's immigrants want only to make money to send back to their home country. Many don't feel a loyalty or allegiance to the United States. |

And I am happy to welcome them with open arms, once they get their proper and legal paperwork completed and approved. That is how my great grandparents got here from Russia when they were about to be thrown in ghettos. I am certainly not chanting any Nazi propaganda. Simply am saying that anyone who wants to be in this country needs to follow our laws. Plain and simple. I am not asking them to do anything I don't do. |

Actually sweetie mine were different. My Grand father came here from Northern Ireland. He became legal. He got a job and paid his taxes. He paid his own Doctor bills and didn't try to get a free ride. His sons joined the armed forces. He didn't have 11 kids. He learned the driving laws. He tried to speak so Americans could understand him. He did it the right way.
These illegals are not doing it the right way.
THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. |

So true! If only our ancestors' countries DID care enough about fixing the country they came from then our people wouldn't have had to go through leaving everything they knew and struggle once they got here. Many of them, like today, don't want to leave their homes but they had no other choice if they wanted to live. Don't you think it would be better if immigrants HAD the choice? |

You're just going to receive answers arguing their ancestors came here legally. Legal or illegal, we are all after the same thing. It was easier to be granted legal entry then, now it's a lengthy and costly process. Hunger and poverty cannot wait so they do what any other person in their place would do. Risk it all for the chance at the American Dream. |

Well, hon, I can't argue with your point, but I think it's important to note that things in this country were very different a hundred years or more ago. First of all, right or wrong, those immigrants were not breaking the law. Secondly, they got no social safety net benefits, such as medicaid, welfare, etc., so they were not a drain on the economy. I agree that these folks are just trying to make a better life for themselves, but we have to think about not only them, but about ourselves too. What are the ramifications to our society of shouldering the burden of all these people? |

The only true natives to America are the Native Americans. Now that laws have been set forth in these United States, anyone that comes here illegally is still breaking the law. My ancestors came here unwillingly as slaves. |

My ancestors tried to "fix their own country", all it got them was stuck on a reservation. You are right about one thing, today's immigrants are no different. Just more invaders. |

I think you are absolutely right. If our ancestors had stayed and fought for their beliefs,we wouldn't be here. No,they came here looking for a new life. And what are the immigrants now doing???The same thing. The ONLY difference (besides race) is the fact that our ancestors only had to cross the ocean and touch american soil to be legal. If only it was so easy for the immigrants now to become legal.
Oh,and something else that bugs me.All ya'll anti illegals claim that illegals get food stamps, medicaid, etc.Well, where do you think they learned about this stuff? From us americans. If someone came to you and offered to give you food stamps amd free medical, you would too.So if ya'll didn't want them knowing, then you shouldn't never have told them about it.
Sorry Bunt,I know that wasn't part of your question. But americans give illegals all this stuff and then complain. Why when it's all their fault? |

WRONG!
My ancestors came here legally, were naturalized and recognized, upstanding citizens. They made thier own way, learned to speak English, and did not take advantage of government handouts. |

this talk is hard to understand but the anglo-saxons that where from the mayflower were people who stole land and enslaved people. This world doesn't work on man-made rules. That's why we have illegal alien in U.S.A. |

Bunt, LAWS LAWS LAWS!!!!!
The law has changed since the first "immigrants" came from Europe. And you're going to yell and insult at the decendents who now have legal status just because you weren't born earlier or you didn't live in Europe back then?
Please how insane can you get?
The first immigrants that colonized here made up the rules. Live by them! If not then leave. Very simple.
While you're at it why don't you throw rocks at all the rich people who are wealthier than you and burn down houses of the famous? |

migration is human instinct. They did this to survive in the prehistoric times and they still do the same....the problem is not the immigrants the problem is international borders not the people......ask a bird whether they are stopped from entering a new border....set life free.. |

I hate to be the bearer of the bad news, bunt, but Mexico lost the war. I know it's hard to understand, but to help, go find a map of north america, one that shows the border. Study it carefully, look for the part where Mexico ends, and the United States begins.
This is 6th grade stuff, here. The sooner we put the border fence in place, the sooner this entire sorry soap opera will be over with. |

you are such an idiot!!! yes, our ancestors came here for a better life. but did they come here and try to make it just like their homeland? no! that's exactly what mexicans are doing! if they really wanted a better life and were hard workers they would do it legally and get an education. why are you defending them? oh wait i already answered that question "YOU ARE AN IDIOT"
P.S. we are not our ancestors so don't push on that subject anymore, ok pedro lover? |

Their ancestors (mine too) came here poor, uneducated and hungry. Modern day immigrants are the same. When did this country become anti-immigrant, anti-freedom, and anti-ability- to- think- for- yourself??? I am glad my uneducated, farming ancestors got on a boat before they starved to death, to get jobs here in America. |

Bunt, (what an ugly name) I think you get more stupid by the minute. We don't need you. We never have. We never will. Have you ever said anything intelligent in your life? I doubt it. Just keep living in your fantasy world. I hope they deport your stupid a ss. |

Honestly, it's not immigration that bugs me. I don't mind immigration and find it only makes our "melting pot" culture richer.
I can not say the same for illegal immigrants. They ruin things for those who take the long, hard road to get into this country by trying to jump ahead on line. I realize they have problems of their own, but there is an ethical way and non-ethical way. I support those who take the ethical approach, but do not care for those who take the non-ethical path. |

My ancestors went through the proper legal channels to be here. My ancestors didn't expect to receive handouts, or special treatment. My ancestors assimilated and learned the language. My ancestors, although proud of their heritage, were proud to become U.S. citizens, and did not have allegiance to any country other than the United States. |

That's very true. But, our ancestors migrated into a country that was largely vacant. They did do terrible, unforgiveable things to the native population, who were unable to resist the combination of technology and disease brought to bear against them. But, they expanded, through immigration, into a vast, mostly wilderness area, with huge untapped resources. And it began over 400 years ago. We don't live in that era anymore.
The resources are tapped, now. They still exist, but the resources illegal immigrants continually tap are American taxpayer dollars, not unclaimed land. The parallel ends with immigration, since illegal immigrants do not have superior forces to bring to bear against us, and the world is now populated by 7 billion people. There might still be unpopulated regions of the world to move to and set up a new country where people could thrive, but they don't have immediately available free health care and education, or food or housing subsidies.
As far as the 'fixing your own country' part--the first Europeans on North American soil came here to escape persecution. They succeeded for a while, but their descendants ultimately still had to fight a war to gain their independence. So, why not fix your own country? If 11 million illegal immigrant Mexican voters returned to their country to vote, would they not make a significant difference? If a revolution needs to happen to remove the Mexican ruling class, would not an army that begins with 11 million people and builds from there do the trick? Why are people willing to die to illegally emigrate to the US, but not willing to die for their own country, if that is what it takes to make change happen?
I don't have any problem with legal immigrants, but the issue of illegal immigration in the USA has reached a breaking point. One way or another, the border is likely to be closed, forcing those who wish to emigrate to seek a legal means of doing so.
Demonizing the people in the USA who want to restrict access to this country to people who obey immigration laws will not solve any problems for Mexican immigrants in the long term, and may have created such a backlash that it will actually hurt people who seek to move here in the future. If Mexican people want to see a moderate solution to this issue, they might find it will work in their favor to start acknowledging the very legitimate concerns that Americans have surrounding it. |
