who believes that we need an equal immigration reform???

because i do!
Arizona law is just going to lead to racial profiling! i know that on the bill it says that racial profiling wont be tolerated but what makes you think that they will follow it!
we need a immigration reform that secures our boarders BUT legalize the illegals here! they have every right to be in this country!
i also believe that illegal students should have the right to go to a university like every one else!
here in california illegals cannot attend a university just because they dont have documents! and they there are stuck at a community college that are ridiculously over priced for those undocumented!
i am so proud of the cities of california that have boycotted this racist state!
and i hope more states follow this!
im 18 and Hispanic! my parents came here from E Salvador in the 80's during a very dangerous civil war! about three years later i was born! and i was born here so im AMERICAN CITIZEN! and no one can take that from me! the reason i say this because i heard that there is someone who wants to pass a bill that wont allow children who are born here in the US and whose parents are illegals to be an american citizen! to me that isnt FAIR! it states in the constitution that who ever is born here is an automatic citizen!
so who agree with me!
and if you dont than give me a VERY good reason why you disagree!
BTW please do not reply " ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL AND THEY ALL NEED TO GO BACK!"
how about thinking about why they come here in the first place? we take things for granted here and people from all over Latin America and the world dont have opportunities that we have here!

I agree.
George W Bush had an Immigration Reform Plan, it would 1) add National Guardsmen to secure the border. 2) Use FBI technology to help identify fraudulent documentations. 3) Amnesty
The Congress rejected the plan because they did not want to have anything to do with Amnesty. I believe that we will never have an Immigration Reform Law because many are just to Greedy and will not compromise.
I have read the Arizona 1070 law. LULUC, the Texas Bar Association, and overwhelming most of us Hispanics oppose the Law because it will lead to racial profiling of us HIspanics. Most of those that are in favor of it are not Hispanic and they are comfortable with the law because it will not affect them. It will affect us Mexican Americans and that is why I am against it.
BTW- You are a true American standing up for your rights against much strong opposition. You are part of History and it is Young Men like you that are shaping our country for the better. God Bless you and God Bless America. |

"Arizona law is just going to lead to racial profiling"
Every law could lead to racial profiling. The issue is how the police behave. What opponents of this law are really saying is that the police are just a bunch of racists who are going to round up Hispanic people.
Also, the federal law already requires immigrants to carry their papers and it is a much stronger law than that of Arizona. The issue here is one of states rights, not racial profiling. |

read the law kid. It says they have to pull you over for a reason other then being Hispanic. Case closed. As for being born and being a citizen here that was so they could enter their children into a draft if they themselves are not citizens in case a war broke out. The law wasn't made for anchor babies so the parents could gain citizenship. And another thing if your parents dont have your birth certified then your not a legal us citizen. And yes we know about how good we have it here!! We have worked hard to make it that way unlike your countries and many US people who paid their taxes and have died in wars to give us our opportunities and all illegals do is piss on their graves because they haven't had to sacrifice anything to obtain there rights except cross a border. You should be ashamed of your parents and should be against illegal aliens because you are an American now not a mexican national. |

Reform is coming! Soon we will all have government issue packs with all the "proper papers" that once and for all ensure that our national identification is secure. And borders too! Very well protected borders with big tall fences soldiers and the works. And then we can all live happily ever after in the new police state USA. |

Try reading California penal code 834b and change the word California with Arizona and see if there is any difference. Arizona is trying to protect itself because our government failed them.

It looks like our tax payer money to what ever public school you went to was wasted. Look at your grammar. Tsk Tsk.
Anchor babies do not deserve to be American citizens. We are just about the only industrialized nation that still has this right. It was meant for the slaves, not for illegals who pop out large litters. You are just an anchor baby with entitlement issues.
Regarding your user name:
Since you are a proud Salvadorean, return along with your parents to their native country.
You mentioned that illegals deserve to be here. NO they do not. What have they done? Nothing but sponge off our country. Illegals do not and will never deserve to be Americans. |

No effective progress will be made toward immigration reform until we recognize that migrant workers are here, and are illegal, precisely because powerful interests want them to be here and want them to remain illegal. Their illegal status enhances their desperation. Some of America's largest corporations would have to alter their fundamental business models if they did not have access to a large labor pool willing to work for $6.50 to $8 per hour |

the immigrants and illegals all have to go, because they are bad for our country in many many ways. .
You can't have immigrants as equals to citizens.
The citizens have spoken |

I think the only reasonably and realistic approach we can take is to secure the southern boarder.
since we CANNOT deport 12+million illegal immigrants, they must learn English, pay a fine, pay taxes, and have those that have not committed violent crimes, legalized. we should also fine companies that continue to hire illegal immigrants.
many people here live in some kind of fantasy world where they think the US should deport 12+million illegal immigrants. that's not gonna happen. some of them also say they want illegal immigrant's children who were born here in the US (who are US citizens) to be deported too. some say not to give automatic citizenship to those born in the US. |

I agree with you 100%. Immigration laws like AZ just passed are dividing people racially, it's opening up the flood gates to police abuse and it does NOTHING for our borders.
Immigration Reform would bring these people out of the our shadows and back to working, spending, and investing in themselves and their families. This would boost our economy and get us out of this horrible recession. The new bill includes a slew of border security provisions....those that a lot of people on here don't want to talk about because they want you to think that Comprehensive Immigration Reform is only Amnesty, when it's NOT true at all.

Legalizing unauthorized immigrants would help economy, study says
Washington (CNN) -- Legalization of the more than 11 million unauthorized immigrants in the United States would raise wages, increase consumption, create jobs and generate more tax revenue, two policy institutes say in a joint report Thursday.
The report by the Center for American Progress and the American Immigration Council estimates that "comprehensive immigration reform that legalizes currently unauthorized immigrants and creates flexible legal limits on future immigration" would yield at least $1.5 trillion in added U.S. gross domestic product over a 10-year period.
The study looks at three scenarios: deportation of undocumented workers, temporary worker programs and legalization of the current undocumented population. Deportation would lead to a loss of $2.6 trillion in gross domestic product over 10 years, the report says, while a worker program would lead to a gain of $792 billion. Full legalization would lead to the best economic results, the study says. |
