i am turning 16 in may. I just recently got into a car accident in april (09). The cop said it was a blind corner and a bad corner to start with me gave me the ticket. I was at fault. My car is fixable though. I have had a clean driving record up to this point. Which i got my permit when i was 14 years old, so i have driven with a clean record for 1.5 years until today. I completed drivers ed with an A. I am in honors classes for school and am very responsible. I live in Iowa. I think the rule is that you can apply for the intermmediate license (16 years old) if you have had 6 months free of accident or violations. I was one month away. I was wondering if the DOT make exceptions in certain sitautions? Am i still able to get my license on may birthday or do i have to wait 6 months to get mine? I am making no excuses for my accident. Why should the DOT make an exception? You had an at-fault accident within the six months, you lose the special privilege. Welcom to the real world. |
