While agreeing in principle to all the above comments,my cousin did something similar(braked suddenly for a pheasant)and caused a two vehicle collision. She was charged with driving without due care and attention and had 6 points and a fine,so it is not always straightforward. Keep pestering your insurance company to pursue this, after all,you have nothing to lose. |

sorry...it is you that pays. if you had been a sensible distance from the car in front...you would not have crashed into him....even if he did slam his brakes on. technically you are to blame...sorry! |

Sorry to say but it is always the person who runs into the back of the car in front. It may seem unfair but the law says that there should be sufficient gap between you and the car in front for you to be able to stop if they stop suddenly. |

you. you will be deemed to have been following to close. |

You do.
If anyone hits someone from behind, no matter why the reason, then it is always the one that is behind's fault |

sounds unfair i know but dvla always say that you should always be at a distance where you have good time to react and avoid a accident, sorry |

You do, there is never a defence for running into the back of a car.
You were driving too close or too fast. I know this from bitter experience---the one in front of me stopped for a bl**dy frog.!! |

Bill W
|
You as you were driving with undue care and attention. |

You. You were driving too close. A driver has a duty to drive in such a manner that he can stop if the driver in front stops for any reason or no reason at all.
Seems a bit unfair but if you look at it in the cold light of day and without emotion you will see the reasoning |

Unfortunately your to blame as you went into the back of the car in front. Its you who will have the increased premiums and have to pay out your excess. |
|

Bardic

Your fault. You're supposed to drive at such a distance that you can stop safely on your side of the road in the distance available. |

You are at total fault .
Suppose that bird had been a child then the result would be the same ...crunch!! |

Rocket by name rocket by nature. You do I`m afraid |

Sounds like a rear ender in which you would be at fault for regardless of why the person in front of you stopped. It would be covered under your liability coverage for there veh, and coll for yours.. |

If you're asking who is at fault, and which insurance pays for the damage, you are at fault and your insurance will pay. Any time you hit another car from behind, you were following too close. Did you also get a ticket? |

In cases like this it is always the fault of the driver of the vehicle that drives into the back of the other vehicle that is at fault. As other people have pointed out, you were either following too closely or not paying attention. I suppose you could argue that the driver in front reversed into you, but I don't think that your insurance company will believe that somehow. |

sorry, but this one's on you. If you take someone from behind, they have to live with having their rear end destroyed. It's only fair that you should pay to have the damage cleared up, don't you think? |

you, because you went into the back of him and you should of been a a safe distance that if he had to slam on his brakes, you could of done the same. sorry its down to you. |

Unfortunately it is your fault so they can claim off your insurance. |

too fast too close = bad driver |

your the one who picks up the tab, the reason is you failed to keep a reasonable braking distance from the car in front. |

You will be held at fault for not keeping a safe stopping distance from the other driver |
|

Yup that's all on you... If you traveled at least 2 car lengths away from the car in front of you you would have been able to stop on time is what they will tell you. Even tho that most the time is not true : (
Sorry you will be hit hard with this one. |
