i am buying a truck that could be good for salvage but wouldnt mind driving it, there is a lien on the title, the owner died about 4-5 yrs ago, the lien was from trans south and i've tryed finding them but i keep getting citifinacial so i'm think citiF bought them out. what can i do to get a title?

If there is a lien on the title, the person selling it doesn't have a clear title and can't sell it without satisfying the lien first.
If they can't, don't buy. |

The DMV keeps a list of financial institutions that have been bought out. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/about/lob/lob_top.htm go to this website.
Contact them with the VIN# and ask for a lien satisfied statement. This can be done at the DMV or AAA Auto Club |
