A question about car insurance?

you and me both ,on that one i hate driving in to town anymore,its getting so bad it isn't funny anymore,but car insurance is high because so many people still don't have it,if the aw was that everyone had to have it or they couldn't get their license plates it would be a lot cheaper for everyone to have it,but they add to our policy's because the laws aren't strict enough on it yet,you can still get away with not having it in some states,i had an agent tell me this on my insurance a while back,i was wondering because like you i have had one accident in 35 years of driving,but basically right now were paying for the ones who don't still have it,i do hate driving anymore though,its getting bad anywhere you go these days,i just make the best of it, get my business done and get back home,luckily i work at home,so this helps a lot,good luck man hope this helps.

Premiums are higher due to increased costs of repair and replacement , more drivers means more congested roads and more accidents

and with the mandatory use of seat belts lives are saved and we all know that medical bills are much more than funeral exspenses and death benifiets.

Unfortunately, you wind up paying for those who refuse to follow the law. The state says you must have insurance. He doesn't. The state says the car must be inspected. It isn't. He paid $200 for it and drives it until it gets wrecked, breaks down, or is impounded. He sticks me (the person who tows it) for that bill, and the other person has to claim on his uninsured motorist coverage or his collision, so the insurance company pays out. In the mean time the other person has another $200 uninsured vehicle on the road. But since the insurance lost money, they have to make it up, so you and I pay more.

You do have a very good idea why some drivers paid much higher insurance premium for their car insurance. it is a combination of things, where you live, what you drive, the distance you drive in a year, what the gar is used for, work, school, pleasure, driving record. how far you drive to work.if you have any other drivers on your policy

Just read the answers on this board and you will see why the rates are up.

Cost of repair: It use to be if you got a ding on your bumper you just lived with it. Now people demand a new bumper for $1500. Plus cars use to cost $10,000 or less 25 years ago. Now you are looking at $25k to 45k as a average.

Lawyers, Lawyers, Lawyers. Read some of the questions on here "I got bumped and went to the doctor' and everyone answers 'get a lawyer and sue'. Who do you think pays for that.

Uninsured drivers. That is a big problem where I am. How many illegal immigrants are there in the US (millions). Do you think any of them have insurance. (they don't, it was a rhetorical question).

Medical cost: everyone's medical insurance has gone way up in the recent years. If you think about it, car insurance is medical insurance if you are in an accident.

I vote for increasing the driving age to 18 in all 50 states (and decreasing the drinking age).
