My partner is fully comprehensive Insured. I am under the impression that I can drive her car 3rd party. What are the rules of someone else driving the vehicle?

If your partner has fully comp insurance then they can drive any car with the owners permission subject to the policy of course & yes it will only be covered for third party. If you have separate comp insurance for yourself then the same thing applies to you but if you have not got motor insurance of any kind then you cannot drive any vehicle at all without breaking the law. |

If your partner is fully comp for her car, she is normally insured for herself third party in another car, not you in hers. |

Your partners insurance does not cover you to drive her car. You need your own insurance to drive her vehicle. If you have comprehensive insurance of your own then you will be able to drive her car but will only have 3rd party liability. If you only have 3rd party insurance of your own then you will most likely not have any cover to drive her car. |

Most car insurance companies will allow you to drive a another car not hired to you with owners permission.BUT ONLY THIRD PARTY COVER for the car being driven, also that car must be insured by owner but to be on the safe side ,always contact your insurance company first, It is unlikely someone else can drive your car on your insurance unless that person is a named driver on your policy. |
