I got into an accident and didn't have insurance due to high cost. I offered the driver that I will fix his car. I asked him to get estimat and I will take care of it. The same night he got an estimate and the damage was worth $1500. He asked me to pay him $3000 cash and he will go away. Told him can't afford that if he wants I will fix his car the way he wants or I will pay him $1500 and he can go fix anywhere he wants. He didn't agree and told me he will go thru his insurance cause he had unisured motorist. After 2 month I got a letter from DMV that my license will be suspended due to financial responsibilities. I have a clean record never got any tickets not even a parking. What should I do. Please help. shoul I contact DMV and explain the whole situation.

my liability was thru one company and my coprehensive was thru another. I had the comprehensavive during the accident butnthe liability i got after the accident. The reason I didn't have the liability was cause I was changing companies. There was no body injury and nothing happened to my car it was only his car. If I explain all this to dmv would they still suspend my license.

Let him go through his insurance. Better to pay them than the driver because if you pay the driver, he can come back later and ask for more and more and more. Once you pay his insurance company, you will be done with it

Explain what? The law states you have to have insurance. You made the decision not to buy it. You were driving illegally, without the mandatory insurance coverage and you got into a wreck. There's nothing to explain.

You don't have a clean record anymore. It doesn't matter what you say to the DMV, you drove without insurance and had an accident, period. Don't give the driver of the other vehicle any money. His Uninsured Motorist coverage will fix his vehicle, and then they will sue you for what they had to pay out. If you pay that guy $3000, he'll likely still file a UM claim and then his company will sue you for what they had to pay out. Liability insurance for a "model" driver can be obtained in TX for around $50/mo. Sometimes high cost is relative.

Uninsured motorist covers bodily damage.(Injuries to the person) Collision insurance will cover his costs if he had that, but you still should pay for his damages, if only by paying 100$ per month. The DVM may have rules that you get your license suspended anyway. You should talk to the DVM and find out exactly why your license was suspended.
