Adding my car to another's car insurance, how does this work?

The person who already has the insurance (if it's not you) needs to call his insurance agent and have you added as a driver, and the car added to a multi-car policy. The rates may or may not stay the same; your driving record will factor into the equation in most cases.

If you mean another persons car insurance. You cannot do it. The other person that is insured should call his agent and explain the problem.

If his company will do it which I doubt, I see no reason to believe his rate will remain the same should they add your car and you as the primary driver.

I suggest you bite the bullet, and pay what ever necessary to get insurance of your own. I am guessing you will be considered a high risk, you know the reason I don`t.

For automobile insurance the best way to get a low quote is do a policy comparison on car policies. Make certain that you compare similar policies with the same limits, car make, zip code, etc so that all things are a good comparison.

What I always recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have lots of insurers and can give multiple quotes on car insurance polices.

You can't do it, it doesn't work that way. Each car has to be insured separately and will be rated not on the other guy and his car but on you and your car You are trying to take advantage of someone else's rates and you cannot do that.

The "other" has to lie and say they own the car. Then if something happens, the insurance company doesn't have to pay out.

The name on the title, the registration, and the insurance policy, all have to match.

Insurance needs to be in the name of the titled owner. In a lot of States, coverage is verified electronically and all of the info has to match.

So, just call a local independent insurance agent and get your own policy.

just call your insurance company and tell them you want to add another person to your insurance, it was free for me
