the best thing you can do is forget the internet its naff, they give you prices without any form off discount.
the best way to get a good quote is to do it the hard way, on the phone.
speak to call connections google it for the number, they will give you numbers for companies that will deal with you not those that won't insure you.
tips
supermarket.com it first find you ball park figure
phone call connections tell them the lowest figure(for the numbers).tell call connections that you have to go to work soon and ask them for the numbers otherwise they will ring you all day.
with each new company you speak to lower the price alittle say £200 first then alittle less, if they ask you to take it out now ie, the deal stands only if you take it out now, just tell them that its you 2nd or 3rd call so you'd be mad to do that and take a reference from them.

RAC or norwich union are usually the cheapest for young drivers. Usually RAC by miles as well. Be warned though if you go through norwich union, consider paying a tiny bit more for someone like RAC who have their call centres UK based as opposed to norwich union who dont and are crap people to deal with any way.
Also, if you get a quote of someone like confused, make sure you can direct to the dealer as opposed to through the search engine as they usually add commision.

I found that calling an insurance broker was really good and saved me some money. They do charge about £30.00 for their service but its better than calling loads of companies giving the same details over and over.
Best thing to do is look at your cheapest quote so far, say £1,000 and tell them you can get your insurance for about £900 and see if they can beat it. 9 times out of 10 they do.

Ha ha good luck! I was 22 when I got my Clio 1.2 and the cheapest quote I got was £1400! I am now 25 and its still quite expensive (£750). You won't get any cheaper insurance til you're over 25. If I were you I would save my money and use public transport or a pedal cycle.

well, i passed my test 2 days after i turned 18, and on a 1.0 Nissan Micra, I got my insurance through Direct Line for 770, but cos i pay via Direct Debit every month it went up cos of interest but they have an offer at the min where they wont charge you extra for paying via DD. Very helpful company, English Call Centres you can get straight through to, id recommentd them to anyone. And if youve just passed your test, congrats! xx |
