Do you not have a parent who can help you? Or another driver? My father taught, my mother, me and my brother - we all passed first time. Didn't cost us a penny.

It's worth it cause you wanna know how to drive right? It's best to keep doing it now before prices go up even further and they change the whole age thing and stuff.
If you've already started, don't give it up!

It isn't so much the cost of the lessons which concern me because you could simply search for a cheaper alternative or as another poster suggested,get a Friend or family to teach you for the bulk of your lessons.

What does concern me are the immense costs and obvious cash generating ploys of the DVLA.

First of all its a cool Â£50 for a provisional-scandalous.

Then the theory test,used to be part of the practical test.
The hazard perception part of the theory test,idiotic irrelevant feature designed to trip up those who know the theory answers so that they have to pay again.

Well, Â£20 per hour is quite reasonable these days. Many schools charge Â£25 per hour. But, like all things in life, you tend to get what you pay for!

So, if your lessons are cheap, it may be that your instructor isn't very good and, therefore, in the long run it may finish up costing you more.

If you feel you are getting nowhere, tell your instructor. If he can't help, consider changing instructors.

If you follow the link to the website below, you can look at the free video lessons for yourself and use the knowledge you gain from them to practice in your own time with a parent or some other suitably qualified driver. That way you can cut down on the number of lessons you need and save a lot of money. Many people use the video lessons very successfully for that purpose.

Away with the fairies has hit the nail on the head - Â£500 could have paid to add you to a friend or family member's insurance & got some real practice in. You don't need to use a driving instructor, and I would suggest that if you feel you're not getting anywhere after 25 hours, just ditch him or her.

In India it is not costlier as in your country.
