Are all driving test examiners mean!?

I have failed like 2 times on ma driving test now and i always get mean old guyz with faces like someone beat them up! has anyone else experienced this? (they fail you for stupid things too!)

Sorry you failed again. But, looking at it rationally, it's only a manoeuvring test at 30 MPH or below, so it's not really difficult. After all, there's no motorway driving, no night driving, no simulated rain or snow driving, no high speed driving. Yet if you pass this basic test, you are allowed to do all those things... in any car from a Mini to a Porsche 911! Crazy is it not? It's a bit like giving a person with a basic private pilot's licence authority to fly a jet fighter. So just take more lessons until you feel absolutely confident, then have another go. And good luck! [NB The examiner can have a face like an old boot, but as long as you are competent s/he will pass you.]

no not all drivers examiners are mean i have dealt with several that are not i am friends with one and when i recently went to get my cdl renewed the examiner was my former commanding officer from the army i had wondered what he did when he retired and in my expirience they never fail you for stupid things they fail you for the stupid things you should or shouldnot have been doing all the laws that you need to obey and learn to pass your driving test are in your drivers handbook so you should read it practice more and pass

well they are not letting young Michael Schumacers on to our roads to cause havoc

Not at all...some may be a little more chatty than others but they are just doing their job. If you are prepared properly for test you should pass fine...if you do something silly or lack of experience causes you to make a mistake the examiner has to mark the test accordingly. Practice with a good instructor and take test when you feel you can drive without much help or prompts. Good luck!

Mine was a miserable old bugger - but I still passed 1st time.

Regardless of their personality, the whole purpose of their job is to ensure that you meet the required standard of driving before you are unleashed on the roads alone. Ultimately this is for your own and everyone else's safety. If you are good enough you will pass regardless of how mean or miserable the examiner is.

I passed my driving test the 4th time i took it.
The first time I will admit I was not ready and so that is why I failed.
The second time I was not close enough to the kerb when reversing round a corner - a ridiculous reason to fail because there were no other vehicles or pedestrians nearby so why have to stay so tight?!
The third time I failed because when parking in a bay my front tyre was slightly on the white line - why fail me for that because you see hundreds of cars parked poorly in car parks - it's not a health hazard!!!
I think examiners have targets to meet and if they have already passed their quota of drivers that week they can not pass anymore as it looks bad on their records. It's just pot luck as to which examiner you get and what kid of a week they are having.
Don't give up trying - good luck next time

the first time i had some young foregin lady that failed me because i did more of a rolling stop cause i was nervous...she was like "no, no, no!! what are you doin??" i saw no cars coming after i stopped briefly so i went

i passed the second time when i had the old mean dude though...he was like....you need to review your manual....no one seems to read the manual before the test ( i was like, crap i failed) he was like, okay you pass

mine was really nice! we had a lovely chat as I was driving round. Maybe I was lucky.

I think it's a money making scheme fail you on stupid things and you pay for another test. I passed on my 1st so Im happy I didnt have 2 fork out more money

Lol, yeah they all seem mean don't they! Mine kept pronouncing my name wrong too! @_@

He failed me for a vaild reason though I guess, I nearly hit the back of a car cos I was too busy looking behind me to see if I was ok to switch lanes. He had to use the dual controls >_< Whoops!

Old Fart

next time you take your driving test wear a short skirt and drive with your legs open,it worked for me and i,m a guy.

driving tests have a points total given for each fault also dangerous actions by a learner means instant failure check your failure sheet and speak with your instructor about the faults you were marked down for it's a myth that examiners have a failure total to keep to its just that on the days you took your test you did not meet the required standard.

SteveT
It's probably not a very enjoyable job!

Good luck and I hope you pass next time

they can sense if you are any good in the first few yards, they will fail you on any minor point if they think you are crap

none of them are mean
its the old story.....rubbish in......rubbish out
if you do " stupid " things behind the wheel you need to be failed
are you failing for the same things ?
if so you instructor must address this before you take the test again

No not really, when i took my driving test 14 years ago i was tested by the head tester - a rather attractive lady as it turned out who was very friendly. She failed me the first time and passed me the second - and i banged her for about 6 months afterwards as well :)

rose_merrick
no, not really!

Yes I had the same instructor three times before he finally passed me on my 4th test. The cost of the tests are expensive more money for them, I think they only pass so many a day. My instructor said its not the case but I think so!!
