Been in a crash - what courtesy car?

At a guess, a Peugeot 107 or similar. They won't supply an equivalent, just a set of wheels.

I had an accident a while back I had an N reg Rover 416 saloon, I was with Ecar and didn't put a courtesy car in with my insurance, I got home phoned the insurance company and they informed me that as it wasn't my fault they would send me a "like-for-like" courtesy car although it wasn't actually like for like at all mine was a Rover and a saloon (4 doors) they gave me a Peugeot 307 (5 doors) although it wasn't exactly the same i was still thinking of moving out of my house while I had it!

It depends on the insurer though a friend of mine had a crash in a BMW M3 and ended up with a brand new Lotus Exige as a courtesy car...but equally you could end up with a 107, and believe me I am 6' tall...and it was not f*****g nice to drive!!!

They are noisy, underpowered, cramped, they look horrible but worst thing of all...they have 3 bloody cylinders!

This depends upon the coach builder repairing the car, there is no hard and fast rule. It could be a Fiat Panda or a Ford Focus - who knows?

Be very careful though. you often are liable for the first Â£500 of any damage to a courtesy car unless you take out a separate cover.

I have never had a crash but believe that the courtesy car is supplied by the garage nominated to repair your car. Pretty much take what you get - what the heck, you are not going to have it for long and wheels are wheels.

It'll be whatever they have to hand. Unless there was an option (and you took it) to upgrade the courtesy car it will be "basic", maybe a 107, Ka, whatever. Last time I had one, it was a Corsa - and a semi-automatic at that. Horrible thing.

Whatever car is cheapest for the company to hire, and is available at the time.

So, "the muppet was under-taking"? That is not illegal, and I wonder if you were constipating the middle-lane, like you aren't supposed to, and then maybe moved to lane one without checking your shiny things? Hmmnnn?
Ensure HIS liabiility is established before you accept a courtesy car - and be aware that if you do take one, the rental cost may end up being deducted from a cash settlement that you are offerred! Say your car was worth, three grand? Don't end up wasting 350 a week for 4 weeks whilst all this is sorted out!
Despite everything they will tell you, insurance companies want it all thier own way. Customer service? Forget it.
