Recently, I had a car accident where my engine caught fire and the car burnt out. I was covered with Third party FIRE and theft insurance which means they have to pay out if I have a fire in my car.
Anyway, the accident happened 7 months ago, and I have never experienced such bad customer service and such a big bunch of liars in my life.
Every time I ring them to ask about my claim, they keep fobbing me off telling me that 'the claim is under review' and they'll get back to me. I think they think I'm just going to give up in the end, and not bother claiming back for £7000 worth of written off car.
Anyway has anyone else here had grievances with this awful company (by the way thier part of RBS - royal bank of Scotland group and also own Prudential Insurance)?

Yeah the car accident occured as a a result of the smoke emitted from the engine before impact. It distracted me, and the brakes failed, and I ended up rollling over in a field and watching the rest of the car burn till there was nothing left of it.

You say that you had a car accident, if it was your fault, or partially your fault, then your vehicle would not be covered for any damage caused by your accident, i.e. if the fire was caused by the collision. sorry but that's what it looks like to me, and I wasn't there, (but you did ask).... |

Insurance companies will do anything to avoid paying out, I suggest you get hold of Watchdog or trading standards or something similar. |

im in the same situation as well but only with BELL insurance they are quick at taking the money but when it comes to pay out they dont want to no. |

I had an almost head on a couple of years ago and the only problem I had was getting my excess back and they were not liable for that, butt hey got it for me |

Insurance Companies pay bonuses to staff who manage to deny the most claims.
Until this is made illegal, we have no chance of having decent insurance companies rather than the rip-off merchants we are landed with.
I was finally (after much wrangling) paid a fraction of what my car was worth, despite complaining to the Ombudsman after an accident which was not my fault, and penalised for my no claims too following a crash on Britains 'Most Dangerous Road' |
