I sent the renewal form and check month a go to get sticker and new registration for my car, but DMV did not send me anything for over 30 days. So i went to dmv and pay the fee(including penalty fee) and got the sticker and registration. My question is what happens to the check that i send to DMV month a go by mail?

It got lost somewhere, check with your bank to see if it cleared yet and if it does clear from the DMV they will give you back the monies that you have already paid.
If it has not cleared after the 30 days then its lost in your mail system and you should put a stop payment on it.. |

Hello,
I am going through a divorce, the issue is a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe that was purchased new by me and the loan is in my name only. The divorce judge ordered that the Hyundai remain in my ex's possession and that she would assume the payments once the registration/title had been changed to her name. I have since contacted both the California DMV and Hyundai and have been told it cannot be done since there is an outstanding loan in my name and Hyundai will not release my liability to put her name on the registration. Hyundai says the only way to have her name put on the title/registration instead of mine is to have her take out her own loan, pay off the car and then title in her name (Hyundai also says they don't have a license to refinance so it would definitely need to be by another financial institution). Both my attorney and the judge seem to think that is is possible though and meanwhile I am making all of the payments (since it can't be done) while she's driving the car for free. Can anyone direct me to a vehicle code or California state law that I can use as proof for the judge that a title/registration transfer is not possible unless Hyundai agrees (which they have told me they will not, but they cannot provide me with anything in writing to take to the judge). HELP!!
