Can I be a named driver on my partners policy, even though my own, fully comp policy does not cover me?

I have been given a quote to insure my car under comprehensive cover. Due to my age (24), my policy will not insure me to drive other vehicles.
Will I still be able to be a named driver on my boyfriend's policy, or will this be invalid due to my age?
I really want to be sure before I drive his car as I don't want to be unwittingly uninsured.

Of course, this is not a problem whatsoever.
The comprehensive cover's restrictions apply to you driving other people's cars on your insurance poilcy.
If you are a named driver on someone else's insurance, your insurance makes no difference. You can be a named driver on someone else's insurance if you don't have your own car and your own insurance, it makes no difference.
Just remember, that it is your b/f's insurance policy when you are driving his car, and if you do have a bump in his car, it's HIS hard-earned no claims discount that will go!! |

Its two separate insurance policy's.
Your partners insurance company will take your age into account when he asks for you to be included on his policy, this will of course have a bearing on the amount that he will be charge for the extra cover. |

That's really up to Your partners insurer, as previously stated. My missus and I are on each others insurance, and as a result We both got a discount on our policies, We are fully comp though. |

The only thing you can do is that your partner rings up his insurance and get a quote by adding you as named driver. |

yes you can - he needs to ring his insurers and get you added as a named driver. at least that way you have comprehensive cover on his car if that is what he has on it.
by using the driving other cars extension on your own policy - you would only be covered for third party only whilst driving his car even if you have comp on your car. |
