You can cancel your policy at any time.
Depending on the terms and conditions you may have to give a period of notice or may have to pay a cancellation fee.

You can cancel it, but you won't get a full six month refund on the premium.

They don't have to give you any refund at all, but most likely they will give you a part refund, although not the full 6 months worth (assuming you haven't made a claim in the year).

If you've made a claim during the year they're very unlikely to give any refund at all.

Yes you can, avoid the crap with insurers and say you have sold your car and want to cancel the insurance policy.

You should be able to cancel it but you need to read the small print. I recently had my car written off and when I phoned to cancel it, the broker said I couldn't until the insurance company had notified them that the claim was completed. By the time that had happened I had had the policy for nine months and the small print said that after nine months, the policy could not be cancelled. They make me so mad.

Yes, you can cancel or suspend the current policy whenever you like, but bear in mind that if you're paying in instalments, they will still need to be paid: Your policy was at a fixed price & your insurers have financed the premium over several months, but the entire sum is still payable.

Any insurance i have ever delt with, you can cancel the policy just like that and they give you a prorated cheque. so if for 6 months it was 600 bucks, and you were cancelling after 4 months. that's 2 months that you didn't use, you would get 200 back. That's how it should work at least. (might not be quite that simple, fees and such, but you get the idea)

You can cancel an insurance policy anytime you want. However; the insurer may ask you to show proof of new insurance or may require a signiture. Before cancelling any policy please make sure that you are insured elsewhere. Going in to a new insurance company without prior insurance may not let you get all the discounts you could have gotten and will effect your down payment.

You can do it, but...keep in mind that they may hit you for penalties, and...they may report you as dropping the car insurance. If they do that, you need to have proof that there was no interruption of coverage if they require insurance in your state.
