You would have to check with the UK authorities to see if they honor it when you are that age. |

Well look at it this way, the legal drinking age in the US is 21, if i go to a country where it is 18 i can drink legally there but when i return to the US i still can't drink legally until i'm 21. You understand better now? |

No, the Uk has a minimum age, and require you to drive on a full licence under their terms. So if you got a learners permit at 16, well, thats not a full licence, and the UK or any other country is not interested in it. It means in theory you know the road rules. They'll make you take the learners test in the uk as well. If you had a full licence in the USA, but were still under the age limit to drive in the UK, you would have to wait till you passed their minimum age limit to hold a full licence with them. |

A driving licence is only valid in the country it's issued in.
this wont work.
you would need to apply for an IDP (International Driving Permit) which i think you have to be 18 for.
the UK and US are 2 completely different systems.
I'm in australia (NSW) and i got my licence at 16 but i had to use a co-driver for 120 hours of driving before attempting one of the toughest driving tests on the planet. i'm now on my probationary licence, which basically means i get targeted by police. (is it this bad in the UK?)
anyway - if ur below driving age in the UK u cant get insurance which means u will get absolutely raped if u get in ANY sort of incident (no matter how minor) and u will end up wit some debt u will be paying off for the rest of ur life. |
