Can I insure someone else's leased car?

I am assuming a lease of a BMW. The lease transfer is not yet complete (and is taking forever). The current lessee has offered to let me take the car early. Can I insure the car, or could i be added to her policy, what can be done to have me insured before the transfer is complete?

You will probably not be able to insure the car until it is in your name. Most leasing companies and insurance companies do not allow this. I would contact her insurance company and see if you can be added as a driver on her policy until the lease is transferred. Most companies will allow this. Make sure the current lease holder knows that she can still be held liable for any accident you have in the car until the lease is out of her name. This would hold true even if you were able to find a company to write a policy in your name for this car before the transfer was complete.
