My minivan has $4200 worth of damages from a hit and run. I just found out that the driver that hit me had no insurance. I only carry liability because it is 9 yrs old and a work vehicle. I have the police report, letter from his insurance co stating that his insurance policy cancelled 1 day before the accident and the estimate from the body shop. I have tried to contact the person who hit me to ask what his intentions are. My ins. co. can't help me because I only carry liability. Now I have 2 sore spots in my neck and lower back. What do I do to make this irresponsible clown pay? He just can't get off the hook.

You will have to sue him. A guy without insurance isn't likely to have any assets you can get. Good luck. if you would have had collision, you wouldn't have a problem....insurance doesn't seem so expensive now, does it? |

Too bad you didn't say what state you're in. In California you fill out form SR-1. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/sr/sr1.pdf If the other driver doesn't have insurance... they can lose their drivers license and a few other penalties until they make restitution.

Call your agent.
Most states require liability and Uninsured Motorist Coverage. So, if you have a letter from the other carrier confirming they did not have insurance on the date of the accident -- you would have a valid Unisured Motorist claim.
Please call your agent - ask specifically if you have uninsured motorist coverage. |

do you have a lawyer youve dealt with before? if so he or she might talk to you about it for free. if not, as for the car, go meet with your insurance agent, i know you want to avoid this, but id go see them asap. give them that persons insurance info, they may go after them, they may not.i had someone hit my 2001 maxima and ran, i didnt get any info from them and my insurance didnt go up in price. but i had to pay the deductible. |

You can take him to court. In the police report should be all of the inof you need to take him to court. |
