I'm only 19, so I really don't want to get insurance in my name, ESPECIALLY up here (the rates are insane). If I bought a car in Alaska, would I have to put Kansas plates on it to be on my parent's insurance policy?

You cannot (legally) do what you are proposing. Unless you are a full time college student in Alaska, your car must be registered, licensed and insured in Alaska |

Only if your a full time student in Alaska and you will have to show proof of residency. Otherwise, you'll need to get your own policy as your not a resident of parents home. |

No, you couldn't put a Kansas plate on it because you live in Alaska, and that would be illegal. Either move to Kansas with your parents or pay for your own insurance. (Or ask your parents for assistance.)
