Can I use my no claims bonus to insure my two cars with different insurers?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can I use my no claims bonus to insure my two cars with different insurers?

I've insured my car with my son and wife as named drivers using my no claims bonus. Can I insure my other car (with my wife as named driver) using the same no claims bonus but with another insurance company?

Your NBC may only be used on one vehicle at a time.If you decided to try to use it with different companies they might not inform you that they know but in the event of an accident the would not pay out.

taxed till i die,
Why not phone them and ask?or send an e-mail?

No, and if the insurance company find out you are insuring your sons car with him as a named driver when he is actually the main driver they will withdraw cover, refuse to pay out on any accident and could also prosecute for fraud.

english_monster
No you can only use your no claims on one vehicle!

Its sad but they are all in it for the money!

Yes, but it's very very difficult to find someone who'll take it on. It would be easier to have both cars with the same company, preferably on the same policy. It may be cheaper in the long run to get your son a small, cheap to insure car of his own to reduce your premiums and get him started on getting his own no claims bonus.

no one NCB per car, there is another way however if your wife has been named on pol i.e. her name appears on the certificate of insurance for five or more years and there have been no gaps in between, and there was never a period of 2 or more years where she was not named then you would be entitled to a named driver discount, essentially the insurance Will be in your wife's name and you be be a named driver on the policy, try www.quinn-direct.com get a car quote using your wife as the policy holder and you as a named driver, the discount is roughly 50%, this is provided your wife doesn't have an active no claims bonus on any other vehicle, there is a ot of boxes to be ticked but if your wife has all of the above then it is a 50% discount, direct line are also offering this now so also give them a blast

No.

All my vehicles have different amounts of NCB.
Every time I buy an extra vehicle I start with nil
But an insurer may give you a discount on a new policy.

What is it with people thinking the no claims bonus follows you around wherever you go?! It doesn't. Claims or no claims bonuses are part of discounts given by insurance companies who choose to use them and under the conditions that they set. So you'd have to ask when applying for insurance. Why wouldn't you insure all vehicles with the same carrier? You should check your existing policy for any language that will exclude coverage for losses if they don't insure all vehicles.

no your ncb will only go on one policy, but some companies do a multicar policy which may work out cheaper for you
