I'm 17 and I want my mom to co-sign on a car for me. I have a license but her license was suspended several years ago. Can she sign for a car for me??

The co-signer is merely saying "If the primary on the loan defaults and doesn't make the payments, I will."
Doesn't matter if she can legally drive or not, all that matters is her credit worthiness. |

Yes. Their ability to drive has no bearing on their credit history or on their ability to pay the loan in case you don't, which is the main purpose of the loan. In most states you have to be at least 18 to enter into a legally binding commitment such as a car loan. You might want to check the laws in your state. |

Yes your mom can. I cosigned for a new car for my wife about a year ago and my license is suspended. As long as the Title, Registration and Insurance is in the name of the person holding a valid DL you will be fine. Your moms name will just appear next to yours on the Title as a co-owner. |

co-signing is a finacial qualification, if you don't pay cosigner has to. A fools bet at best. Never cosign for anyone. |
