Can a cop tell from your license plate number that your license is suspended?

If your drivers license shows the same name for the tags and registration, yes, the office can read the computer print out and charge accordingly.

Only if the plate has also been suspended because you don't have a license.

They can tell if the registered owner's license has been suspended.

Are you in CA? Are your tags current? And your insurance? They'll look at those first, your license 3rd.

And, BE CAREFULL... Mine was suspended due to failure's to appear. (several) Keep within acceptable limits of the law. Don't let a cop get behind you. Don't drive yourself to the DMV to fix anything, that's where you can get busted, especially if you're in a small town.

A friend of mine is CHP and said the first thing they look for are those cars being "too careful" and going exactly the speed limit etc. Especially late at night when the bars let out.

I am not really sure because they have no way of knowing who is actually driving the car until they pull you over. I know that they can tell if your registration is out from running your plates.

Yes, they can, but your car has to be registered to you, and it is cause to pull you over if they get back that you the owner have a suspended licence, whether you are driving it or not.

If the vehicle is registered in your name , yes they can !! The DMV puts a notice in the system.

when you get your licence plate, your car and your licence is registered with the number on your licence plate and when the cop looks the licence plate up, they can see your licence things and report it

i know a cop. yeah they can. they can look it up on the computers in their cars, or call dispatch and have them look it up. your license plate has all of your registered info about you under it.

I was an Ohio state trooper for 30 years and I could run your plate number and some of my dispatchers would automatically run the owner of the car for wants and warrants and check the drivers license and also check you thru NCIC for felony warrants. Some dispatchers I had to ask them to check you.
You would be surprised what all I could find out about you from your license plate number.
The answer to your question is YES he can tell if he checks.

Only if the car your driving is yours. If it's registered in your name, all of your information will be available when he/she pulls your plate up. Why are you driving on a suspended license anyway??

I was informed that a police can just be driving close to you and that the tags automatically start running on the screen and when your car plates shows up it will give a discription of car and the owner name of the suspended license. Is this true?
