Can an insurance company drop coverage due to a suspended license?

The insurance company sent me a letter stating they need a copy of my license because it has been suspended. I did not know about this, but found out it is true. They say they want a copy of my license or a letter stating my license is unsuspended by wednesday, which I'm not sure is possible.

If I get it unsuspended, will this prevent coverage from being dropped? What can I do?

In all actuality the insurance company is saving you money, in that if you are driving with a suspended license you have no insurance since the insurance only covers you if you are driving legal. In some states the agencies work together and tell each other what is going on. It sounds like the insurance is giving you a chance to straighten this out.

call the BMV and see what you need to do to get your license reinstated.

you may have to pay fines or if in prior accident and no proof of insurance, may have to prove you were financially responsible at the time of the accident. in some cases, you did what was right, but the BMV may not have that info and suspended your license.

this is important you clear; some insurance companies out there have an exclusion in their policy that states if you are driving on a suspended license and in an accident, they will deny the claim; so in effect, you paid premiums and got nothing to cover you if found at fault in an accident.

so call BMV and see what is needed;
also call your insurance company and ask them if proven license is reinstated, what do they need to keep coverage in force.
