I was in a road traffic accident just over a year ago and hurt my neck. I got checked out at the hospital and was told to take painkillers, and had to take a few days off work.
A few people at the time told me to claim for compensation but i had this idea that if i did then my work colleague who was driving and was responsible for the accident would in some way have to pay out, even if this meant her policy being increased by her insurance provider.
I recently got talking to someone who deals with claims like this and he assured me that if i took out a claim then it would not have an impact on my work colleague as after the accident her car was written off and her policy obviously had a claim against it anyway.
My neck still hurts a year later and impacts on my life in areas such as not being able to carry heavy bags on that side and shooting pains down my back and shoulder etc...
Does anyone know if what this guy told me was true? obviously i would like to get some money for my injury but i dont want it to backfire on my work colleague

Ok you are suffering a year after an accident. Whiplash can go on for a longtime. My daughter still suffers from the effects of a minor accident 7 years later. Take no notice of smart Alec's who sneer at people who make genuine claims and see a lawyer on a no win no fee basis. I would not worry about your colleagues insurance several claims from one incident only count as one claim and as one has already gone in for the car it will not make any difference to her insurance.

You have upto 3 years to claim. Go see your local Solicitor. He will gather all info and advise you. If the claim is viable he will charge the guilty parties insurance for his fee. You will get 100% of the claim which on an average is £3000. Good luck Dave |
