Hello David .T,ask your supervisor/manager for a quiet word in a seperate room and tell he/she excactly why you did`nt let on about not having a licence,do it calmly and quietly being polite at all times, ask if they will help you pay for driving lessons as you feel very happy in the job and would like to get on in the company.APologise for misleading them say you will be honest with them in the future.,BUT you must stop straight away as your not insured and could end up working for the Queen and the company could be find big time, you sound like a sensible person so don`t be to hard on yourself ,just get sorted,John Boy.p.s. let me know how you got on. |

i think you should tel em, with so much responsibilty being in the hands of employers these days, you should have made them aware of you NOT having a licence. Another thing to think about..........What if you are minding your own business whilst driving 1 day and somone hits you? All it takes is a small mistake on either party.
Some other people may not have such good words to say about your status.
Tell the truth. |

The dealer you work for should have asked that "dumb" question when they hired you, if they did, and you lied, you're in trouble. If they didn't, you need to tell them. The insurance the dealer carries covers their employees in company vehicles. The ins company requires all driving employees to obviously have license to do so. The insurance companies are VERY strict about this, and the dealer will be in hot water if you hit something and the ins co is contacted! Tell the truth before it catches you! |

if you had been working at a car dealers they have to see your driving licence before employing you as a car dealer my dad was a managing director for a large car dealership and i know that his staff before employing people would of hd to of established whether the person had a licence then there is the question of insurance as well you are defrauding a insurance company as well if what you are saying is true |

Worst case scenario is: You kill someone on the road..... your company insurance is invalid so if you get maimed/injured you will get no compensation. Try explaining to the mother of a child you just killed, why you were driving a vehicle without a licence or insurance.
Best case scenario: You drive for years without incident!
I work at a dealership and we always take copies of licences when people start with us........... It's unlikely you will get away with it!
Come Clean........... You know it's the right thing to do! |

I see it as your ****** both ways, you tell them you will get a warning or sacked for driving the van, and if you get caught you will get a warning or sacked. |

Well its not a very good idea to work at a car dealership without a licence, but they really should have checked out your credentials before hiring you. Beleive me i know people that have been caught driving without a licence and in the end they admitted it wasnt worth the cost in fines and licence points. I would advise that you take your test and get a licence a.s.a.p. Heres some links as to what could happen to your vehicle or you. |

No licence, no car insurance? Forget about getting a car without both of it in the first place. Get it both before getting a car. California requires both before you drive the car on the road. |

i would seriously question the validation of your employers as surely they should have asked you at your interview and it should be on your CV anyway. Go out and get one, and ask them why they didnt ask you!!!
surely getting a job at a car dealers is a really stupid thing to do if you dont have a drivers license? or is this a joke question? |

If you're saying you don't have a license... You need to get a driver's license. As for the insurance, should you get into an accident, you would be covered under the dealers Garage liability policy (or possibly a commercial auto policy). Should you have an accident while driving one of the vehicles, the fact that you're not licensed would probably result in you losing your job, and probably getting a ticket. The damages from the accident wouldn't be impacted by your failure to obtain a license. Your employer's insurance company probably will not be pleased with your employer for allowing this situation and might penalize them (more reason why you might get fired).
If you're saying you don't have insurance, if you are only driving during the course of your work, see my above answer - you wont' get a ticket for not having insurance b/c "insurance follows the car" and the car has insurance thru the dealership. |

Get one quick, but be honest if they tackle you about it, say that you had hoped to have had it by now. Take a Crash driving course and get yourself through. Do NOT attempt to drive around without a licence, you will not be insured! This could come back on you in a very expensive way. To be honest, I am very surprised that they have not asked to see your details etc? |
