Can anyone give me an estimate on how much insurance would be on this car for an 18 year old?

I'm 18, and am considering buying this car.

I'm not naive, I am aware the insurance will be very high as I'm a teenager and it's a sports car, but is there anyone here who works in the car insurance industry who can give me an estimate on how much insurance would cost me a year?

*edit* I passed my test in june 2007 when i was 17... I have a car right now, and I've made no claims on my insurance.... I don't know if this makes a difference....

It will be very hard to find an insurer that will insure you on that. Even if you do you could be paying nearly as much as the car just for the insurance.

I am also 18 and I am insured on a 2.1 Jag with a V6 and that costs me over £3000 to insure by myself, but I couldnt even find insurance for a Ford KA convertible!

I am insured with tesco, but direct line, more than and kwik fit are also good.

You will probably have to ring up the companies though as most if not all of them wont give you an online quote for that car.

Let me know how much it was if you do manage to get one as I would be very interested to know....

You could be looking as much a a couple of thousand, do yourself a big favour, get a driving school and take 6 hours tuition on the Pass Plus, it will cost you about £140 but you will save between 15% and 20% on your insurance.

metblondie222
around £3000, but if you bought a classic sports car it would be 300, top tip xx

The only one who could give you an answer that would be close to correct would be an insurance agent with access to all your information, which none of us are. Find an independent agent, give him your information, and let him tell you.

Check out Tesco's and Asda!! My insurance for my Golf Gti was really cheap with Tesco....its worth a try!!

If you go to the AA website, you can get a quote online, without committing. Simply fill in all the questions and they will give you the quote. You then don't click any further.

AA are a good insurer pricewise, so it will give you a probable figure.

When my son first passed his test at 17 we insured him on a 10 year old 1.1L Metro, 3rd Party, Fire and Theft only.
The best quote we could get was £1000.
I think that should help you do your sums...!

oh my god, sorry but you will pay through the nose for that , considering ur age and the value of the car ur looking at a mint,
it will be in the thousands, but hey if u've got the money to buy a car like that , why are u worrying about insurance?
ask mummy and daddy to help u out

I'd say easily a few grand. I know that most insurance companies wouldn't even insure me on my mum's 2 ltr Golf TDI until I turn 21 (I live in England too), so you might want to check that first!

Another thing that I know I didn't really consider when I bought my second (and current) car - If the car is more expensive then all of the parts will be more expensive if you should be unfortunate enough to have anything bad happen to your car... Also if you lose your No Claims Bonus it may cripple you financially!!!! :) Good luck whatever car you get!

It will be a fortune for you on that car.Why dont you wait a bit longer and have 2 years no claims? Also if you do pass plus it halves your insurance with some ins. companies. My daughters first ins. at 17 was 600 pound on a fiesta 1.4 si with direct line. she is 20 now. We have just changed from direct line to swiftcover.co.uk and saved a fortune but we have been driving for 28 years, Good luck
