Why not try a VW Golf tdi in particular the 130 or if possible 150 bhp model they are quick, economical, fairly cheap to insure, and pull like a train.

I would suggest a Toyota Yaris 2003 (facelift model), with a 1.4 diesel engine.
Although the bhp is modest (75), the torque is 125 lb ft, which makes it really nippy out on the open road. As long as you keep the revs above 2000 rpm, to get the turbo spinning, it positively leaps forward, surprising drivers of more supposedly powerful cars. Insurance is pretty cheap.
I owned one for three years before trading it in. In some respects, I wished I'd kept it.
This sort of car isn't generally bought by boy-racers, so you should be able to find a really good one that's been looked after. |

I'm using a Subaru Impreza WRX wagon, my insurance is USD$1300/year. The wagon bodystyle helps keep the insurance cost down, and I think you would be hard pressed to find a vehicle with a better combination of performance, utility and reliability at that price point. |

don't touch french cars there like tin cans mate my girlfriend has a 206 1.1 you would be dead in an accident i own a 2.5 v6 ford cougar and i get better milage than my girlfriends 1.1 REALLY.my insurance is 600quid fully comp not bad assuming.try a mk 3 fiesta 1.4 si fairly cheap and nippy failling that,1.1sx fiesta mk3 mate the choice is yours. |
