Can anyone tell me of their experiences with Geico Insurance?

I have been with State Farm for nine years and decided to see if I could find a cheaper policy. Geico has quoted me half what I currently pay. I have been with the same company for so long, I am a bit nervous about changing. Can anyone tell me of their personal experiences?
Additional Details
Personal service counts for a lot but I am talking about over $100 a month in savings. I think I could handle a little less service for $1200 a year. As long as they are an "okay" company, that is a substantial savings for me.

I really preferred State Farm to Geico, but Geico is fine. I had State Farm for many many years and loved it. I liked being able to call my agent up with questions. I now have Geico. I've had one small claim and the actually did make the whole process quite easy for me. Either company is fine. It just depends on what you like. |

Googling "geico insurance complaints" brings up over 7600 hits; read some and decide for yourself. Questions about Geico do come up fairly often here, too. |

I was recently in an accident where the other driver was at fault and had Geico. I was very pleased with how Geico handled the claim. History counts with your auto insurance carrier. If you have had a good claims and payment history with State Farm for nine years, that can be very helpful to you if you have a string of bad luck and a few incidents in a short time. See if State Farm can place you in a more favorable tier (category) with lower rates before you make a switch. Good luck. |

They're cheaper because they don't have any personal/licensed agents. You call a toll free number instead of calling up your local agent like you do with State Farm. They are an okay company, but what will you do when your house burns down and you're stuck on hold for 30 minutes with Geico when you could have just walked right into your State Farm agents office. People see the savings in money but they over look the loss in customer service or personal agents. |
