The best option is to go into the post office i know while in northern ireland u can get both a british an irish passport so i would assume u could get an irish licence although in northern ireland i know they have a northern irish provisional which is blue instead of the english white.

If you have a UK driving license it will not be necessary. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, just send off you license for change of address to the DVLA in NI.

Background Information On DVLNI

Driver and Vehicle Licensing Northern Ireland (DVLNI) was established as an Executive Agency within the Department of the Environment (DOE) on 2 August 1993.

The Agency is responsible for licensing drivers (including taxi drivers) and vehicle operators in Northern Ireland and also, under the terms of a formal agency agreement between the DOE and the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DTLR), for the registration and licensing of vehicles and the collection and enforcement of vehicle excise duty in Northern Ireland. No, if you live in Northern Ireland You must apply for a Northern Ireland Driving licence.

If you get this Licence you are allowed to drive in the South of Ireland.
