ok i want to get a peterbilt with a sleeper cab that is technically a class 8 truck but can i register it as an RV and drive it with out a CDL

It depends what you use it for, and what it is designed to do physically.
If it still has the 5th wheel, and you are using it to haul ANYTHING, you will need a CDL. You can't just tag it as a motor home, and be magically exempt from any regulations.
If it is physically converted some how so it is more like a mobile home, you will not need the CDL, but your state may require a higher class license, (non-CDL class B for example) based on the GVWR on the door plate. (over 26,000 will need a B).
Starting in 2009, all 50 states will start having the exact same regulations when it comes to licensing and CDLs. so things may even change if you get a non-CDL license, but then at least you will have the on the road driving experience to be able to pass no problem. |

It takes more than that to plate it as an rv. You need: fresh water holding tank, gray water and waste water holding tanks, as well as several other requirements. |
