I'm 16 and i just got a new car yesterday. My parent's have already added my name to their insurance, but that was before they bought me a car. Can i legally drive without insurance for the time being?

I believe CA will cover a new car on the existing policy for a max of 30 days to give you time to get in contact with your insurance company, so you would be temporarily covered until your parents can call their insurance agent & get your car added to the policy. Just make sure you have the insurance information & paperwork for your car with you at all times until you can get an insurance certificate from the agent for your car. |

No. You are added to their policy as a driver on their car(s), not yours. Since insurance goes with cars, not drivers, you are not insured until your car is added to the policy. |

your parents should add this new car to their insurance policy , by calling the insurance company and five me the info. of the new car , you said your name already on the policy .
