hi, the registered owner contain my name and my mom 's name. They use the word "OR", can my mom buy insurance and does not add me to her policy. my mom is the co owner and i m the main owner, i m not sure if it possible. anyone know?

if you were in australia you could drive the car but if a claim was made the excess would be dearer and any no claim bonus would be lost |

yes you can do that. she is just geting insurance and she is the cosigner. her name is included in the title to. |

From what you say, it sounds like you live together. In that case, both of you need to be on the insurance policy. All household members of legal age to drive MUST be listed on the policy, either as authorized operators or prohibited operators. Obviously someone listed as a prohibited operator may NEVER operate the vehicle. |

If I wanted to, I could put insurance on your car in my name. The insurance goes with the car. As long as you are driving with the owner's permission (you are because you ARE the owner) and there is an insurance policy in effect that covers the vehicle, no problem. |

If your mom gets insurance for the car and you are a co-owner it would stand to reason that you are insured because you would of course drive a vehicle you own or co-own. The best thing to do is list you as a driver on the policy. |

there are types of insurance that automaticaly protect someone if you lend them your car...you being the main owner is a dif story tho...I would say that unless you are directly covered under a policy then no...you will be in violation...ask mom if her policy covers you...and ask your insurance carrier if you both have to... gl.. |
