hello, i am 17 years old and i have my Virginia Drivers License. I want to make a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina soon, would this be legal?

"Jayda A" is correct,
All states must honor the traffic laws and Drivers Licenses issued by another state. It's in the National Highway Transportation and Safety Act.

Your license is valid in all 50 states and US territories. You just have to follow the area laws as well. |

man, i wish i could remember exactly where in the constitution it is, but the constitution does protect you in this situation. a license, state car inspection, etc. issued in Va must be honored in NC if you are a Va resident. so if you are pulled over in NC, the cop cannot say your Va license is void in his state |

Wow, the laws have changed. I was 16 when I received my driver's license and back then my license was valid, giving me me the rigtt to drive in any of our 50 states.
Edit: Ah ha! The other posters answered as I originally suspected... you CAN drive legally in other states. |

no it wouldnt, you need to go down to the DMV and they have this form that you need to fill out to let you drive out of state
EDIT: at least, thats what ive heard from my friends who need to drive out of state...ive never had to get one myself |

I think so, because any age-related driving law only applies to permanent residents. I know a 16 year-old who also has a VA license and drove through NEW YORK, where it is 18.
Her father is a cop, and he had no problems.
Don't fret... just drive safely and do not draw attention to yourself anyway. |
