Can my Mom report my car stolen?

Okay so I am pressing charges against my Mom's husband because he physically attacked me. My mom is not defending me at all and is taking his side over mine. Anyways, my Mother is the cosigner for my car that I bought last year. She told me that if I do not drop the charges that she will report my car stolen. Can she do this even though both of our names are on the car? I always pay my payments on time. I know that she can remove me from her insurance policy but can she really report the car stolen?

Even if she is reports the car stolen the police will have no real basis for an arrest and it would become a civil matter because both you and her are on the car loan and title.Go forward with your case against your Mother's husband, see if the law in your state requires the permission of one party or both parties when you are recording a conversation. This way you can have some proof against your mom for blackmailing you.

Well yes she can report it stolen, but if they find you, or if you go to them (the police) you can explain to them that she said she was going to report it stolen, and tell them you were going to press charges for physical assault, and that your mom said if you don't drop the charges, i will report it stolen. If you did nothing wrong, and you pay your bills you should have no reason to worry.

Technically yes..Try to behave nicely and appologize even you are not at fault.you do need your car back.don't you?
