so my mom is a single parent and i have one sister who is 19 and goes to school and works all day. one our way up to NY my mom got a speeding ticket[in a rental car so she didnt really know how it rode] she was going 89/75 and when she got the letter where to send the fine thing my sister didnt give it to her. and now her license are suspended for 6 months!! she has a court date on oct. 23 and she might give them back then. but i dont have ride anywhere and i have to go to work! is there a way she can get them back since i depend on here and she has duties as a single mother?

well the car was checked out and it had two things wrong with it- a loose pedel and the speedomeeter was broke.
and her driving record is almost clean, two reck which where not here falt.

This sounds rather far-fetched. A broken speedometer on a rental? No way- the cars are usually less than a year old, and if it was a problem, then the previous renter would have stated it. Loose pedal? Yeah, right. Sister not giving mom the letter, sure right. Kiddo, get on the bike, and start pedaling to work. Or, ask a neighbor, or a co-worker. Mom has to go to court. |

No. Laws are made for everyone to follow, single parent or not. Sorry, I guess it's going to have to be public transportation for your family for awhile :0( |

Well, she can go to court, plead her case and pay the fine. It all depends on the judge. Driving a rental car isn't an excuse for speeding, she can see the speedometer. |

no the law is the law. the law doesn't care if you need a ride whether or not mom is a single mom. No one is upset with your sister for not giving mom the mail....sounds funny to me. |

Most places have an appeal system. Try the place that sent her the notice.
Oh! and by the way, if she was speeding there is no excuse "She didn't know how it rode". There is a speedo you are supposed to look at whilst driving.

Have your mom go in and pay the fine and then get her court date SOONER. Tell her to call the court's clerk office and set up an earlier date, rather than October. With the proof of payment, she should get her license re-instated with the courts and then take that proof to the DMV. |
