can my parents find out about my speeding ticket? i'm on their insurance still, but i'm 23 years old. i got pulled over last night. i just want to know if it will show up on the insurance bill or anything...

well this is my first ticket ever. i've never had a speeding or parking ticket or anything... the police officer didn't say anything about points being put on my license, so did i get any? don't they usually tell you that kind of thing?

Yes , but if you go to the judge and tell them that this is your first offense they might fine you but they can ammend your moving violation to non moving violation. |

If you get it off your driving record you should be ok. If you decide not to it will make your parents auto insurance go up. Try taking a defensive driving course or deferred judification. I have posted an article that may be helpful. |

What state do you live in? I used to live in Florida... pay a traffic attorney and they handle all the court stuff... 9 times out of 10 - no points on your license.
Other states have some sort of forgivness program if it is your first ticket.
Your parents won't find out until the insurance renews... gives you some time to break the news to them. |

Yeah you will. The points will increase and so will the ticket. I got caught doin' 80. I plead not guilty and paid 200 bucks but I have no points. If you don't want points.. go to the court where you will be tried and plead not guilty and you can pay your way out. |

Your best bet is to be honest with them and tell them because they do put thses kind of things in the local newspaper. So before they go to the Insurance agent and get on him for raising there insurance because he will know the deal. Just Tell them it's not that bad. |

It is fine just tell them We all make mistkaes you never know your parents might tell you a sory of how they were going fast on the highway |

If you still live at home, you will get letters from attorneys wanting to help you with your speeding ticket. They buy addresses from the courts. The only way a ticket can go on your record is if you are convicted of the offense. You could take Defensive Driving, but you have to contact your insurance company and submit the completed form. They may tell your parents, since it is their policy. |

Not only they can, BUT THEY WILL. Yes, there will be a surcharge on their policy for YOUR ticket. If you don't pay it, THEIR car can be towed. That would be a bad thing. |

If this is your first ticket. You should be able to attend traffic school and the ticket will not appear on the insurance since this is your first offense. I know that is how it is in California, but check w/dmv in your state. |
