Can u have two car insurance policies in your name?

Aye. Right!

Yes, but you can only apply your 'no claims' discount to one.
Remember, sales gimmicks include 'discounts' for if you have been driving over X years, some will 'offer' the same 'discount' as your spouse has on their NCDs, some offer 'discounts' for being over - or UNDER - a certain age. But you only ever have ONE, GENUINE No Claims Discount.
EDIT: Wilfred, as part of their eagerness to pick up new customers, in the ever increasing Insurance market, many insurers will offer you a discount BECAUSE you have full no claims on another policy, but, honestly, if you call your insurers, they will confirm that you only ACTUALLY have ONE NCD 'valid', at any one time.
EDIT2: I feel quite insulted that a someone would come on here, tell a perfect stranger that they are 'WRONG', and then not even check back, to see that that person has validated their FACTUAL answer! |

Yes. But not for the same vehicle. |

Absolutely. You can have as many insurance policies as you want.
I have one for my daily driver cars, but a separate one for my 1971 Mustang, because it's a classic car. Two different companies, two different policies. |

Yes, not a problem and police don't care as long as vehicle is insured.
Can only use no claims discount on one policy though.
EDIT:
I would contact your insurer if you are using the same no claims on different policies.
You are very wrong to think you can do this.
If you have 2 vehicles you build 2 seperate no claims discounts and can be used on 2 different policies but not 1 NCD on 2 policies.

Providing you have two (or more) cars - yes (in fact this is the preferable way of doing it).
You can't have two policies on the same car (why would you?) but you have to be the owner/ keeper of both. |

Yes but in the event of a claim they will pro-rata the settlement.
two insurances covering two cars is different |

only if you have two different cars there is no way on earth you can have two policies on the same car the national database that records every insurance policy would flag you up.
and to the person who stated you can only have only one no claims bonus you are wrong a no claim bonus applies to every policy you take out if you are entitled to the same no claims bonus obviously on different cars.
for personal reasons I have a full no claims bonus with direct line and two policies with two vehicles and the no claim bonus applies to both. My grandson as apolicy with the same company and he also as a full noclaims bonus from my policy transferred to his car when he reached the age of 25 |
