if you are driving a car, you need insurance. This is to protect yourself and others on the road. |

Yes - but it will come at a high premium. You cannot of course drive alone in the car as you must always have a qualified driver with you and L plates of course. It is illegal to drive an uninsured car so do not think that not insuring it is an option. You would be better off getting a relative to buy and insure the car so that they can nominate named drivers. It will increase their insurance premiums too so you should reimburse them for the additional costs. Take an intensive driving course and aim to pass your test as quickly as possible in the meantime. |

Yep, will be dear though. Try quinn direct and www.moneysupermarket.com as these tend to be cheap for young drivers |

No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web.
Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around?
the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great.
this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins.
The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman.
Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy.
So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net.
Good starting point is at this site.

You can but it may cost you a lot of money. I've just answered a similar question and advised them to go to http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ I've had good deals through them. You could also get someone to put you on their insurance policy to enable you to drive the vehicle and then get it when you pass. |

NO you need a full license to drive a car and you are not allowed to drive a car unless you have a full license holder sat in the car with you ,if a provisional driver as an accident when driving alone the insurance is nil and void . |

Yes - there is no problem legally in buying an insurance policy for your car (in fact you MUST have one!) - the only thing is that the premium will be quite high so I suggest an insurance broker would be your best bet as they have several companies to choose from.
Please note that you will have to keep to the terms of your licence (i.e. be acompanied by a driver over 21 with a full licence for 3+ years) until you pass your test. |
