Can you get a ticket for no insurance without driving.?

i was going to the police station to report a crime. the cop asked my my name and if i had insurance i said no. a few weeks later i have a "bench warrant for my arrest" for driving without insurance. But heres the catch i didnt get pulled over and the officer didnt see me driving. What do i do?

i was going to press charges for a incident that had occured. someone crashed into my vehicle. now, me knowing i didnt have insurance at the time wasnt planning on claiming it on the insurance. i was gonna fix it outta my own pocket. the cop taking the report ask me if i had insurance. not knowing if i had even drove there or anything. and weeks later i get a letter saying i have a "WARRANT FOR ARREST" for driving w/o out insurance. im suppose to get a ticket and a chance to prove it first right? and under what pretenses does he have to assume i drove there and driving without a license? any answers?

If your vehicle was on the road when hit, you are required to have valid insurance on it. Since you said "no" when asked about insurance, you are going to have to pay, and probably lose your license for a few months. |

What crime?
How did you get to the police station?
And if you say you drove, then you basically solved your own case.
If you drove, and they ask you for insurance, it's pretty obvious that you were driving without it. They don't have to catch you in the act, because you just admitted to it.
That would be common sense.
Edit: So, basically, you went into the police station, reported that you were in an accident, and told them you had no insurance. Which is a 100% admittance of guilt. Then you're surprised that they charge you for it? What did you think would happen? lol.... |

You were going to report an accident and admitted to the police you were driving without insurance at the time. So basically, you confessed that you were breaking the law to a police officer and you expected him to just ignore it? Unless you can provide a a copy of an insurance policy showing you were insured the day of the accident you're up the creek. |
