Yes, you can have insurance on a vehicle that is not owned by you. Reason... insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver or the owner of the vehicle but be careful no one else has insurance on a vehicle and tries to report a claim at the same time for the same loss or it's fraud.

Yes i have. Like right now my mom owns my car and its in her name but i have my own insurance. But that's in NY and i had to work something out with my insurance comp.
