You will be fined, most states want you to return the plates when the insurance company informs them that you let it lapse. If you don't return the plates you will get a fine for that and you can't park a car without plates on a public road.

BOO!
No because the tax will be invalid due to the lack of insurance.

You can but you better hope nothing happens to it. If it comes to where it gets towed you may have some legal issues.

do what you like......but don,t expect anything when it has been broken into

no it can be kept at your house but not in the street!

Defo not, it will be towed away and you'll have to produce your documents and pay to get it back.

You can leave it parked on the road side, but if a police person, or parking inspector happens by, you are very likely to have a ticket placed on your windscreen AND there's the risk of it being towed away and you prosecuted for having an uninsured vehicle on a public highway (roadside or not).

No if your car is not insured you cant leave it on the public highway

I think the previous answer is correct. Would you want to chance it anyway? what if another car hits it...or if it rolls down a hill and runs over someone???

In the UK, if you did it for any length of time, and the "authorities" found it, they'd take it for crushing.

Even if you never drive it, or it won't start or anything like that, it still needs to be insured, in case an accident its caused because of it, and damage is done to a 3rd party or their vehicle.

Plus, you'd have a total loss on your hands if it was stolen/vandalised.

Plus, in order to have insurance, you need a valid MOT, which means a valid tax disc, and as this info is all stored on databases, the old bill would soon find out, crush the car and fine you for your trouble!

Roy
If you not worried about it whether it is there next day, or a fine for being uninsured...go for it!

Denise S
Depends on where you are. If the tags are still good you might get away with it. BUT if anything happens you are the liable person. Could get cited for it as well. People do it all the time tho...

Aaron_J88
I wouldn't even drive a car without insurance.

Because what if something happens to it when you're away?

You can't make a claim because you don't have nobody to claim to..

If something is stolen from it, what can the authorities do?

And you may get fined if you have driven a car without insurance... I wouldn't risk it.

not ideal.
if it is taxed then it won't be so bad but if not then no.
isn't the best thing to do as if anything happens then you haven't got a leg to stand on

No, you would be breaking the law, but, more seriously perhaps, you would put yourself in danger of a lawsuit if,say, someone ran into it in the fog/dark,whatever and was hurt.

No, all vehicles on the public highway should be insured.

No.

No, to be "on the road" a car must have a minimum 3rd party insurance. Even if your car is parked on the roadside, what if it was the cause of an accident? With no insurance you'd be in sure trouble! It would have to be kept on private property and not kept on any public area. Same goes for untaxed cars, SORN, they have to be kept off the roads.

I agree with the other answerer. Any vehicle on a public or even private road, must be insured. The reason for this is that if it gets hit or is part of an accident (even if no one was using the car) They can come after you for payment also.

andmay1993
all this is incorect you can have your car anywhere with no insurance in uk just as long as you have road tax they can not do anything if they do you will be liable for compensation!
