me and my husband had the same trouble a few weeks ago, there is no way of taxing a car with out the v5, we now have to wait up to 6 weeks for the new v5 to come through before we can tax it.

the answer is no. i got given a car it was insured in my name but registered in my boyfriends and i had 2 have the logbook changed into my name if you have a valid log book the post office will change the details thre and then at no extra cost

As long as you have insurance and a mot i think you will be fine

the registered owner will recieve the letter with taxing details including the barcode which is scanned to prove to the DVLA the car is taxed. Aslong as you have that, your valid insurance certificate and a valid MOT certificate you should be fine

Your grandpa should receive the necessary docs as a reminder just before the old one expires, with this and MOT and ins. you can get it taxed. Gordon Brown does not care where he gets his dough from.

If you fill in a V62 form at the post office when you go to tax the vehicle, you can register it in your name. You may also need a V10 form

yes you can as long as the registration is printed on the insurance docs there should be no problem if you are insured on another car and you have comprehensive cover you wont be allowed as this could be deemed fraud as this is what a lot of unlicencensed people do to get tax for there cars, also your grandpa needs to inform dvla that he can not find his docs. because otherwise he will get an Â£80 automatic fine for no road fund , get it off road, and declare it that way to dvla be fore the tax runs out
