Call your Insurance Agent. He/she will be able to inform you better than anyone here as situations are specific. |

I wouldn't expect a check for anything in the next week or so. Sometimes these things take months if not years.
Other times it may only take a couple weeks. Either way, you wont be getting anything none too soon. |

If the accident was the other party's fault, thier insurer will pay you for your car first, then when you finish treatment, they will make a settlement for your bodily injuries.
You're in better shape if they are insured by a big insco, and will probably have your check in a very short time - 1 week or so. It can take a lot longer if they have crappy insurance though. Meanwhile, they owe you a rental car.
Call your adjuster! |

Really depends on what type of insurance you have...
Your insurance company will assess the damage and pay you the appropriate compensation first. They will go after the other driver's insurance company. If you have rental car coverage they will set you up as well. The medical bill will be assessed separately. |

A lot depends on the accident report the police wrote up. In my experience, the medical bills are paid directly by the insurance company. Also, compensation depends on the insurance coverage. Compensation comes later. |

It would help if we knew where the accident happened so we could provide more definite answers.
Generally, the claim for the car is settled first and separately from any claims for medical bills, lost wages and/or pain and suffering.
If you are making a claim for the car directly with the other persons insurance you need to determine if the car is repairable or a total loss. Repairable is an easier claim but not always quicker. If the car is repairable make sure to get a rental from the other company if you haven't already done so.
If the car is total loss then you should do some research into the value of the car so you know if the offer you get is a good one. Also ask the the insurance company for documentation showing where they got their value from. You could start your research at http://www.autotrader.com to get an idea of what your car is worth.

That really depends. If your car was totalled and you have full coverage, your insurance will cut you a check in about a week for the current value of your car. That's it! So, hopefully, the value of the car is enough to buy a replacement. I only got $5K for my car and I ended having to buy a brand new one. So, the money was used as a down payment. Money for your medical car will usually be cut a little later. They will pay that out once treatment is completely done. Sorry for the accident. It is such a pain and you the person who wasn't at fault ends up getting the bad end of the deal. |

depends on your coverage and the other person's coverage... i do know that medical insurance will pay you as well if you were actually admited to the hospital, not just the emergency room |

Well, first off, most companies have a 24 hr claims line that should get things started for you. Then comes the fun part. If you have insurance that covers a rental car, then you may want to go through you insurance company and have the other company reimburse them. If not, you are going to have to call the other insurance company and find out what it would take to get a rental. Then if there has been any medical bills, submit them to the insurance.
It truely depends on the situation as to which settlement you get first. If you weren't hurt in the accident, just went to the DR. to make sure and lost work, that will come first. If you were seriously hurt, they will have to wait until the Dr. can give an estimated time on when you will be done with your treatment and what further items may result. On Property damage (your car) most insurance companies will have it rectified in 30 days. |

They will pay you for the car first as soon as you insurance adjuster takes a look and writes it off it's will take you a while to get paid for any injuries anywhere from 2-5 years |

You only get one check to cover all expenses, be careful. You don't want to take the check before your medical condition is better or you will be paying for it out of your pocket. Don't forget to include ambulance bills if you had one. |

Property damage is seperate from any bodily injury claim.
You generally receive the property damage settlement first. |

Nothing comes quick from insurance companies! There are lots of issues to be decided before they pay out a dime so take a breath and slow down! Haste will be your own worst enemy when it comes to these kinds of issues! Patience is a virtue! |
